Happy Friday! I hope you have all had a beautiful summer. I know it’s not over just yet, but seeing everyone getting their kids ready for school this week has been a gentle reminder, it’s time to focus on fall.
This summer, I had the pleasure of meeting with some of the people that make our town great and keep us moving. I’ve toured the Highway Department and took stock of the town trucks with the dedicated team there. I sat at the courthouse in Barryville and saw our wonderful court clerk and justice in motion. I’ve spoken with our constables, worked with the town to conceptualize and secure a $125,000 grant from Sullivan Renaissance to clean up our waterways and provide access to it for all. I also continued to work with the volunteers at the Barryville Farmers’ Market and Yulan Food Pantry to feed the town. We live in a beautiful place with fantastic people working hard to keep it that way, but there is still so much more to do!
As I sit to type this on the eve of the anniversary September 11th, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, I am reminded of all the brave people that fought and continue to keep us free and safe. We must honor their legacy and protect the heroes among us. Please join the Town of Highland tomorrow in ceremony at Heroes Park at 6pm. Also, next Saturday, let’s all support the Yulan Fire Department’s annual Von Steuben Day at the Yulan Ball Field.
We can come together to make the most of our community. We need to improve our schools, welcome business and prosperity to our community, and lower taxes with the revenue they provide. With a unified vision and hard work, I promise to represent each and every person in town with integrity, honesty, and transparency.
Please join me next Sunday, Sept 19th at The Blue Fox Motel, poolside, for a family fun event. There will be music, food, face painting, and spirited conversation about what we can do to improve this place we call home. I would love to see you. I’m heading out now to pick up my yard signs, please let me know if you would like one. Enjoy your weekend.
